I'm Aretha Gaskin, and I've officiated weddings since 2014. More than 1,000 ceremonies later, my approach hasn't changed. Every couple deserves a ceremony written for them, in their own words, without assumptions about who they are.
That means your titles, your pronouns and your language from the first word to the last. Traditions are kept, reimagined or left out entirely. When Matthew and Corey asked me to wear red for their ceremony, I wore red.

I officiate LGBTQ+ weddings of every size, from large celebrations to private elopements and simple marriage license signings. As a Certified Municipal Registrar based in Union County, I also make sure your legal paperwork is handled correctly the first time.

Wedding Ceremonies
Your ceremony is written from scratch around your story. We start with a Zoom consultation with both of you, where I learn how you met, what matters to you and the tone you want to set. Rituals like a candle lighting or jumping the broom can be shaped around your culture and style, and I'm happy to coordinate my attire with your wedding colors.

Elopements and Intimate Ceremonies
Just the two of you, or a small circle of the people who matter most.
Elopement ceremonies are personal and unhurried, held at a meaningful spot across New Jersey.
Witnesses can be provided if you need them.

Marriage License Signings
For couples who want to be legally married without a ceremony. You and your witnesses sign, and I file your license with the registrar. When you marry on a weekday during municipal business hours, you may be able to receive your Certified Marriage Certificate the same day.
